B is for...Bedtime Stories.

So there's been some chat in the news recently about reading to kids before bed. I'd like to take this opportunity to admit...shock horror...I don't actually read B his books at bedtime.

When I get out a bright, colourful book after 6pm, B forgets that it's bedtime. He stands up in his cot and tries to grab the book off me. I've tried cuddling him and reading: same thing happens. I've also tried reading him boring looking books like Treasure Island and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. The down side to that is that after half a page, B starts yelling at me and although he hasn't mastered words yet I can tell he's saying 'SHUT UP, WOMAN. I'M TRYING TO GET TO SLEEEEEEEEEP'.

So, a couple of days ago I started telling B made-up stories and today I had the idea to share some with you

They will be inane, they will all be about B, they will all fail to have a beginning, middle and end but that doesn't matter because they are short, they don't over-stimulate and B is asleep.

Read the next post for the first one.
