B is for...Belated Xmas cake


As a sort of reprise to my post 'Forgetting to Take Pictures of Food' I did actually remember to take a picture of my slghtly-too-boozy-for-a-pregnant-lady Christmas cake, I just forgot to share it.

I would absolutely love to share the recipe with you, but I sort of made it up and didn't write it down. 

The recipe that I very loosely based it on is this one: 


I do know that it contained no raisins, whatsoever- J hates fruit cake, so I was trying to make a traditional-ish Christmas cake that he would eat. 

I decorated it with orange crisps, inspired by another girl-crush of mine, Rachel Khoo.  You can find that recipe here.  It says to bake them for and hour and a half, but I only did mine for 45 mins. They probably weren't as crispy as Rachel's but were still sticky enough to decorate my cake without any sort of adhesive and lasted for 3 weeks. 

A word to the wise though, don't feed your cake with booze the day before you plan to eat it- hic!
